Stagetext offer an excellent 3 – 4 day intensive training course to train operators to “verbatim” Caption according to their Caption delivery model and Captioning Conventions.
Stagetext Certificate in Theatre Captioning for Deaf People
Software Vers 2.8
The course is run by experienced Captioners who also act as mentors. A study guide is provided and the days are divided into a number of sessions which include importing and formatting text in our Captioning Software working from a show video, supported outputting in a simulated environment, a mentored performance in a live environment, before culminating in a solo run in a live environment – the examination!
The course concentrates on how to Caption on original “See-A-Voice” single-colour Amber Caption Units using our original Vers 2.8 of the software.
For more details of the course you can contact Stagetext via there website at www.stagetext.org or call them on 0207 377 0540
How to output Captions to Smart Caption Glasses, Tablets, via Projector and to LCD Panels.
Sopratext Captioning Software & Sopratext Venue Software
You will need to use a Licensed version of either or Sopratext Captioning or Sopratext Venue Software.
Anyone who has used Vers 2.8 will immediately be familiar with Sopratext Captioning as it is only an update of that software written to add new Display options and to work more effectively on Windows 10.
Outputting Licenses for both software’s are usually held by Theatres and Captioners prepare their files as they normally do using Free-Issue versions available from the Software Downloads page on our Sopratext website.
Any stg. files prepared on Vers. 2.8 can be imported in either Sopratext Captioning or Sopratext Venue and then output to any Display Device.
Adding Closed Captioning Devices – Smart Caption Glasses and Tablets
Sopratext Captioning Software & Sopratext Venue Software
Captions are transmitted to Smart Caption Glasses and Tablets by connecting a router to the outputting lap-top, opening an app on the Closed Captioning device and connecting them.
More details about Smart Caption Glasses and Tablet Technology are available in “Display” in the main menu of this website.

Adding HDMI Caption output – Projected Captions and Captions on LCD Panels
Sopratext Captioning Software & Sopratext Venue Software
In order to output Captions via Projector and onto LCD Panels we have written HDMI output applications that are used in combination with the main outputting applications.
These can be downloaded from the Downloads Page of our Sopratext website.
Once downloaded Projectors and LCD Panels can be connected to HDMI output of the operating lap-top and Captioning can begin!
