Digital 4 first developed an app to output Captions onto Epson Smart Caption Glasses after the CaptionCue Project that we ran for Stagetext in 2015.
Digital 4 invited the National Theatre to be a Venue Partner and Andrew to be a Technical Partner in the CaptionCue Project and it is fair to say that much of the excitement about the use of Smart Caption Glasses was generated by the publicity of the launch of the National Theatre’s own version of Smart Caption Glasses in 2017.
Smart Caption Glasses are Android devices and so to output to them to you need to develop a suitable app – pretty much as you would do to output to an Android Tablet PC. The major difference is that the Epson Smart Caption Glasses project content in front of the user rather displaying onto a screen.
