Opera Surtitles were first introduced in the 1990s to display a translation of the Opera in the audience’s language or to transcribe lyrics that might be difficult to understand.
Most Surtitles are shown on LED Displays above the stage, sometimes they are projected or occasionally they are output to LCD panels. Digital 4 Opera Surtitle systems can output Opera Surtiltes by all these methods and also new personal display devices such as Tablet PC’s and Smart Caption Glasses.
Our Sopratext Venue Software was developed for Opera Surtitling with input from a group of experienced Opera Surtitlers and we continually update the application based upon their on-going advice and client and audience feedback.
Digital 4 clients include:
The Royal Festival Hall, Edinburgh International Festival, Royal Opera House, English National Opera, Welsh National Opera,Glyndebourne, Nevill Holt Opera, Grange Park Opera, Grange Festival Opera, Snape Maltings and many others.
